GATHER IDEAS

The first step for this poster was a way to get my mind thinking. Our class was told to write three words that came to mind when reading this poem. Mine were - Pollution, confetti and seagulls. From there, we had to quickly sketch a visual version of those words.

DEVELOPED IDEAS

From my first nine original sketches, I decided to ask my peers to choose their two favourites from each section. Stakeholder feedback was a critical part of my process for my first poster as I could start to understand my audience's interests - which will help me overall develop the best design.

FURTHER DEVELOPMENT

From here, I develop only two final sketches, adapting from what my peers thought about my previous design. My on my stakeholders said I should combine designs for a more dynamic effect.

FINAL DESIGN SKETCH

This final sketch was done to get an understanding on what my final poster could look like. I decided to use a colour pallet and play around with that until my stakeholders and I were satisfied.

STETCH

I decided to sketch my drawing on my final poster page. This enabled for accurate painting for me to get the most professional result. Although illustration isn't my strong point, I found it useful having previous sketched my design.

PAINT

I hadn't picked up a paint paintbrush for about 10 years, so this step for me was a bit nerve-racking. I thought that it would be important to step out of my comfort zone and try something else. I found painting to be the best option for this design as it was an easy way to create distinct block colour for contrast.

FINISH

Once painting my design, I decided to scan it as it would be the best way to portray the true colour of the painting.
